As the East Central College Softball season reaches its last couple of weeks of the regular season, one of the sophomore Falcons, Marissa Boyd, was honored by the National Association of Two Year College Athlete Administrators (NATYCAA) as a finalist for the female scholar athlete of the year award. Boyd has been a two-year starter for the Falcons and was named 1st Team All-Region her freshman year which is one of the criteria along with a 3.6 or higher GPA to qualify for the award. Her numbers on the field and in the classroom have been great examples of a well –rounded collegiate student athlete. During her freshman season she batted .388 with 8 doubles, 4 home runs and 41 RBI.

A graduate of Union High School, Boyd was also named an NJCAA Academic All-American 3rd Team her freshman year. She will be graduating from ECC in a couple of weeks with a degree in Pre-Nursing/Health Science.
