The East Central College Falcons (7-3) were able to knock off the Mineral Area Cardinals for a second time this year. This time the game was less dramatic than the previous overtime match as the Falcons won by a score of 3-2.

Goals in the match were scored by trio of Falcons. Miguel Gonzalez put East Central College into the lead early with a header into the back of the net from the center of the penalty box. The Cardinals answered to tie the game 1-1. Then Blake Little elevated the Falcons as he tucked in a rebound from a shot of the Mineral Area keeper by Joe McInnes. Diego Navia got the eventual game winner as brought down a Scott Peggie cross with a side volley shot to put ECC up 3-1. MAC scored a late goal to end the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Falcons came through with the victory. Bailey Hoehne played in the nets for 90 minutes keeping the Cardinals at bay most of the match.

The Falcons look to be poised to head into the post season with a rejuvenated spirit and a goal to win a region championship. The quest will start in Kansas City on May 11 as ECC will face MCCKC in the first round of the Region 16 DII Men’s Soccer Tournament.
