The Falcons (3-1) were successful over the first weekend of the 2018 season with big wins coming in second day of the Falcon Classic over Southwestern Illinois College and Lewis & Clark Community College. ECC was in control of both matches as they took down the Trailblazers of Lewis & Clark 25-17, 25-21, 25-17 and the SWIC Blue Storm by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 27-25.
In the victory over Lewis & Clark, Abbie Dennigmann and Samantha Staab had the high numbers in kills with 6 each. Nicole Roper put the attack into motion throughout the match collecting 14 assists.
An overall team offense against SWIC was paced by Symantha Fredrick with 10 kills, Mariah Vahlkamp recorded 9 kills and Abbie Dennigmann registered 6 kills in the match. Vahlkamp and Fredrick were also leading the way on the defensive side of the court with 20 and 13 digs respectively. Kaley Roper had 10 digs as ECC made a final push to take down SWIC 27-25 in the final set of the match.
