The East Central College Falcons (5-2) have improved their MCCAC conference record to 3-0 after a win over NJCAA DI #5 Jefferson College. The Falcons lit up the scoreboard first with a goal scored by Guy Baskerville on a cross from Scott Peggie. Baskerville came into a crossed ball with his entire body and put it past the Viking keeper. A brilliant first half in a constant rain had ECC in control of possession most of the first 45 minutes.

The rain stopped and the game changed in the second half. ECC and Jefferson both had chances, but the Vikings tied the match up 1-1 with 28 minutes remaining. Jefferson College then started putting more pressure on the Falcons. ECC answered with counter attack as Scott Peggie put in another cross into the box and Miguel Gonzalez slammed it home for the eventual game winner with 18 minutes to full time. ECC weathered a couple of close chances, but Pierocarlo Privete and the defense held to preserve the win. Diego Navia, Tanner Graef, Julio Gonzalez kept the Vikings at bay from a defensive standpoint and all had stellar games.

Coach Martin Clayes was pleased with the total team effort and hopes the teams’ bumps and bruises in the match won’t linger into matches later in the next week.
