The Falcons (1-0) made quick work of the John Wood Community College Blazers in three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-12. Coach Lisa Mathes-Peters was pleased with the overall team play and saw areas where improvement needs to be made for the future. The Blazers were led by first year head coach and ECC Volleyball Alumnus Maddie Halford. It was sort of a homecoming for Halford to visit Union, MO to face her former coach. The Falcons were not as hospitable on the court as they were off the court. ECC didn’t look back after trailing by four points in the first set. A convincing victory had good team play from the starting line up with Nicole Roper, Symantha Fredrick, Samantha Staab, Janice Steacy, Jessica Kelly and Mariah Vahlkamp. As the Falcons progress in the tournament different players will see time to establish their presence on the court.
