ECC Volleyball (2-0) was able to soar out of the nest on the first day of the new season by beating John Wood Community College and John A. Logan College. The Falcons faced John Wood and were able to take them down in four sets by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20. It wasn’t easy as John Wood was a much improved team over last year. Former Falcon, Madelene Halford had her Trailblazers ready to face her former coach Lisa Mathes- Peters and the Falcon squad.

The game of the tournament to this point went the distance as East Central College rode the momentum of a packed gym to come from behind to beat the John A. Logan Volunteers in five sets. ECC found themselves in a battle with the NJCAA Division I team from Southern Illinois. ECC prevailed in an exciting third set to take a 2-1 lead in the match by a score of 31-29. The Falcons then dropped the fourth set, but when it really mattered they prevailed in the end by a score line of 22-25, 25-20, 31-29, 11-25 and 15-9. The crowd on hand was fired up to see the Falcons start the season and win two matches on the first weekend of the season.

ECC will take on former district and rival Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and former conference rival Lewis & Clark in the second day of the 10th Annual East Central College Falcon Classic.
