A delayed start to the regular season has finally come as the East Central College Volleyball Falcons were able to play their first match of the season against John Woods Community College. It has been more than a year since ECC has taken to the court for a regular season match and it was evident. ECC started off very slow and had to dust off the cobwebs after falling in the first two sets to the Trailblazers in a tri-match. The Falcons couldn’t find a rhythm with team chemistry until the 3rd set. Then the team consistently found better play from some of their sophomore talent and the comeback was in the making. Taking the next two sets and forcing a 5th set put momentum in the Falcons’ favor as they clawed their way back into the match. The first victory of the season for ECC ended with score line of 11-25, 14-25, 26-24, 25-20, 15-10.
The second match had ECC meeting up with an old district foe in Northeastern Oklahoma A& M. ECC used to match up with NEO in district play up until 2017. The Lady Norse took their first match against John Woods. Then it was a meeting of the old district rivals. The Falcons took NEO to five sets, but couldn’t complete the match and lost 26-28, 25-22, 25-23, 4-15.
