The Falcons (3-3-2) were knocking on the door throughout the entire match against the St. Charles Community College Cougars, but couldn’t finish off the game in a 1-1 double overtime tie. ECC started in the hole quickly as SCC scored in the 3rd minute of the game on a defensive lapse as a Cougar defender broke into the ECC backfield uncontested to score an easy goal.  This woke the Falcons up and then they started to dictate play despite the extreme heat.

The lone ECC goal was scored in the 60th minute when Leonard Sowa had a free kick at the top of the box and played the ball across the center to Arman Kovac who fired a left footed shot past the St. Charles goalkeeper. The goal was Kovac’s eighth of the season and Sowa’s 5th assist.

East Central outshot St. Charles 21-8 with a number of chances in overtime. The Falcons were playing a man up in the last ten minutes of regulation and overtime. The numerical advantage created a lot of space for East Central to work the ball around the field. Shots were fired from all around the Cougar penalty box. Sowa had two great chances, one saved by the SCC keeper and another cleared off the line by a defender. Gabriel Pires also had another good chance as it was headed off the line by a St. Charles defender. Kovac and Sam Marchi were also denied on shots in overtime by the SCC goalkeeper.
