ECC Baseball (19-20) split a double header with the North Central College Pirates winning the first game 10-7 and dropping a long game 8-7 in 11 innings. Shane Kearby was able to go six innings striking out nine batters to lead the Falcons to victory in the first game. Trey Orman launched ECC’s only home run in the first game. ECC had 13 hits in the game and Seth Shannon went 3 for 4 on the day at the plate.

The Falcons poured on the runs in the sixth inning as they tallied seven runs with hits by Sam Sisk, Andy Hueste, Cam Leach, Orman and Shannon. Ethan Lindemann added to the offense with a sacrifice fly scoring a run. ECC was 10-2 as Kearbey exited the game. North Central tagged the ECC relief pitchers for 5 runs, but it wasn’t enough in the 10-7 victory.

The second game was a back and forth affair. ECC was down and came back, surrendered the lead and eventually fell 8-7 in 11 innings. Will Des Hotels got the start and went three and two-thirds innings striking out five batters. ECC had 12 hits with multiple hits coming from Hueste, Tyson Dent, Landen Roberts and Luciano Terilli. Hueste went 3 for 6 with a triple and two singles.

ECC hung on defensively in the late innings but couldn’t score and surrendered the game winning run after a long contest.
