The East Central College Soccer Falcons started the season with a lot of unfinished opportunities in a 1-1 tie against the Missouri Baptist JV Spartans. The Falcons outshot the Spartans 8-3 and out cornered them 8-3 as well. The first half of the game had East Central attacking and just barely missing on multiple occasions. DaShaun Morris connected on a pass from Leo Sowa for the only goal of the day for ECC when he poked the ball past the Missouri Baptist goalkeeper in the 23rd minute.

A strong defensive effort from the ECC back four including Gary Dunne, Donald Meyer, Liam Durran and Sam Marchi held out the Spartans for most of the game. The lone goal in the contest for came in the 33rd minute as Flavio Santi made an initial save on the opposing team’s shot and then the rebound was placed into the back of the net.

During the second half the game deteriorated as a downpour soaked the field and made passing almost impossible. The game ended after regulation with a 1-1 tie and didn’t go into overtime due to field conditions. The Falcons are looking to change their fortunes in their next home game against Johnson County this Saturday.
