ECC Baseball (9-15) had a tightly contested double header against the North Arkansas Pioneers at home. The friendly and very windy confines of Taco Bell Field played havoc with both team defenses most of the day in the 3-1 win in seven innings and the 11-5 loss in 12 innings against the Pioneers.

The first game was started by Hudson Stark as he almost went the distance from the bump getting the victory going 6 and 2/3 innings with four strike outs. Shane Kearbey came in to strike out the last batter and record the save.

Tyson Dent went 2 for 3 in the game leading the Falcons at the plate. ECC scored two runs in the first inning which proved to be the game winning runs. Seth Shannon and Luciano Terilli collected one RBI each.

The second game might have been one of the strangest score lines of the year. The Falcons defense ran into trouble in the fourth inning already down by one, as they let up four more runs to trail 5-0.

A great come back and very prolonged game ensued thereafter. Ethan Lindemann started off by driving in a run in the bottom of the 5th to make the score 5-1. Then in the 6th inning, the comeback was on as Trevor Packan reached base and Logan Baker, and Mario Columbo got hits to drive in three more runs making it 5-4.

Then in the bottom of the seventh Austin McKim drove in a run on a base hit to tie the game at 5-5. After that the game seemed to become a defensive affair. Luciano Terilli came in relief and pitched well through four innings striking out five batters. The game went into the 12th inning and the Falcons were faced with bases loaded and a batter was hit to drive in the eventual winning run. The inning didn’t end well as the Falcons fell 11-5.
