The NJCAA #18 ECC Falcons (8-4) remain in the top twenty ranked teams in NJCAA DII soccer after a 2-1 victory of NJCAA DI #13 Lewis & Clark in Godfrey, IL. ECC nabbed a win after scoring the first two goals of the match.  Joe McInnes was able to open up the scoring with an assist by Joao Louzada Pimenta. As the team settled in the first half, Stephen Akot netted his team leading 10th goal of the season on an assist by McInnes. The goal proved to be the game winner as Lewis & Clark answered back with a direct free kick goal and were held out the rest of the match.

Bailey Hoehne and Pierocarlo Previte combined in goal to get the win for the Falcons. The 8th win of the season ties last year’s win total in a shortened season. ECC will face Mineral Area College and Crowder College in the end of the regular season before heading into the NJCAA Region 16 DII tournament as the #1 seed. The Falcons will have a bye in the first round a face the winner of St. Charles and State Fair in the semi-final match at home on Tuesday, October 26 at 2:00PM.

East Central College will be seeking the college’s first region title since 2008. ECC has one titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008 with runner-up finishes coming in 2005, 2014 and 2015. ECC Soccer hopes are high for the post-season.
